REVIEW OF THE PEER SUPPORT FORUM - 17 JANUARY 2002 - A SUMMARY OF 'ADULT' DISCUSSIONS

Introduction:

Following funding from Connexions to support the development of the Peer Support Forum (PSF) a review meeting was held on Thursday 17th January 2002. The meeting was held at the Hilton Islington from 12.00 noon - 4.00p.m. A list of attendees is attached as appendix A.

Two groups worked in parallel with one another one group of adults and one group of young people. Simon Blake facilitated the adult group. This report provides a summary of the key issues raised by the adult group. It provides some questions as well as recommendations based on an analysis of the day. This should be read in conjunction with the report of the young people's session.

Summary:

The PSF has achieved a lot within a small amount of resource. The next phase is an exciting opportunity to consolidate and develop the work across policy and practice. Based within NCB the PSF will have a remit for England and for children and young people up to the age of 19.

The key priority over the next six months is to secure funding for the longer term that will enable the appointment of a staff member to take forward the work of the PSF.

An interim advisory group needs to be developed to drive forward the recommendations from this review session.
