Peer Support in Action

What is Leap?

Leap Confronting Conflict was founded in 1987 to explore the causes and all consequences of conflict and violence in young people's lives. Leap uses creative methodologies, drama, group work and training in programmes with young people and adults.

Leap is a team of professional facilitators, workshop leaders and theatre practitioners actively pursuing an equal opportunities policy in all their work. Leap was initiated by Alec Davison, the Executive Director is Helen Carmichael and Head of Training is Jo Broadwood.

Leap offers its services to youth and community groups/workers, students, young people on remand and in custody, members of humanitarian or religious organisations, leaders or participants on youth employment schemes and young people at risk of exclusion.

Leap aims to put the creative use of conflict onto the agenda of the British Youth Service. It has developed links with similar projects in Europe, New Zealand, Australia and the USA.
